OPSWAT Academy and Elimu Pioneer Inclusive Cybersecurity Education in Kenya

Tampa, FL – June 5, 2024 - OPSWAT Academy is excited to welcome more partners into the fold of the Scholarship Program. As our network grows, so does the opportunity for individuals around the world to bridge the cybersecurity skills gap. Today, we're proud to announce our partnership with Elimu, a Canadian registered charity that supports children in Kenya by providing educational assistance. This partnership underscores our commitment to cultivating a robust cybersecurity culture and delivering inclusive training worldwide, ultimately shaping the future professionals in Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) cybersecurity.
Through the OPSWAT Academy's $10 Million Scholarship Program, Elimu aims to enhance cybersecurity training in Kenya, equipping students with the vital skills needed to tackle evolving cyber threats and deepen their understanding of advanced cybersecurity solutions.

This initiative not only addresses the immediate skills gap but also prepares these students to defend and strengthen their communities against cyber threats. It is an honor to collaborate with Elimu, whose dedication to education mirrors our values of inclusivity and empowerment in the field of cybersecurity.

Ultimately, by preparing students for crucial roles in the cybersecurity field, Elimu is contributing to bridging the critical workforce gap in the industry, ensuring that their graduates are well-prepared to contribute effectively to this vital sector.

icon quoteWe are more than thrilled to be part of this program and partnership at large. In Africa, the critical infrastructure is not designed to handle the threats, and as a result, whenever there is a cyber threat, critical infrastructure is normally attacked, and attackers demand ransom. A recent attack occurred earlier this year when the government point of collection called E-Citizen was attacked, causing the government's E-Citizen activities to shut down. We at Elimu believe that this will change the cybersecurity threats faced, as we train youths to help detect, combat, and build secure-based systems and software that factor in cybersecurity as a real threat.
